The title "neue_Heimat: anderswo" (new_home: elsewhere) essentially arose from my examination of the topic of the worldwide search of individuals for a place where they can feel at home, which seems very important to me nowadays. It doesn't seem to matter whether this place is external or internal. Moreover, from my point of view, it does not matter in which condition the searching person himself is, whether he is young or old, rich or poor, happy or unhappy, all of them seem somehow not to have arrived yet where they actually would like to be or at least would prefer to be. At the same time, we are constantly defining new "arrival points" these days, which can perhaps be titled a new home, but in many cases do not prove themselves as such over time. Is it because we are simply no longer able to actually arrive somewhere, or is it because there are no such places - whether internal or external? This is a question that the word "elsewhere" particularly expresses for me, since it stands in a certain contradiction to the new home itself, and for me thus expresses the fact that there might be new homes, but that these are permanently elsewhere.
In the song cycle of Schubert's Winterreise, this theme of searching and somehow not being able to arrive is expressed very beautifully. For me, the music and the lyrics can therefore be in very interesting and exciting contradiction with very beautiful, or very special places where the videos are shot. On the other hand, the images can also represent moving on from one new home to the next. From my point of view, the topic gets current relevance because even in Corona times refugees are still looking for new homes all over the world, but also seemingly arrived people are brought by the unpredictable changes of this time into completely new, unexpected situations, which may force them to break away and look for something new. Whether this can then become a "new home elsewhere" is an open question.
